Empty Folders

Post by Barbatus »

Hi Professionals,

Is it possible to search for empty folders with xplorer²?

Thanks!

there's no direct command, but in x2 there are a lot of basic ingredients you can use to hand-build most commands imaginable
for this particular one:

alt+D (tools | statistics) will give you statistics for all the hierarchy
ctrl+C to copy all the text
paste in any editor
in there search for the text "Files=0"
this will give you the name of the folder to delete
repeat the search for the next "Files=0" and so on

you don't want to be doing it everyday, but it is possible!

1. press CTRL+F in the desired directory.
2. Enter an asterisk (*) in Named field.
3. In the Find Files window, select "folders" (and unselect the "files" checkbox)
4. Press OK.
5. The scrap pane will be filled with all folders in the directory.
6. Press CTRL+D. All sizes of the folders will be found.
7. Sort on the size column. Look at the top of list. If there are empty folders, they will be there.

ah yes, we had that discussion the other day, no? :)
narayan's alternative is user-friendly albeit not "computer friendly"

When it comes to "Computer vs user", I am definitely in users' corner! ;)

Another thing: my method is easier if you want to delete those folders: simply select them all and press CTRL+Del.

With the ALT+D method, you will have to search them out again in x2 and then delete.
