Oh I didn't realize it would be so soon.

Anyway, the updated help file is already uploaded at ComCast.

and it's even better than before, what with the additions & expansions.

My only comment (& it's minor) is that the "installation procedure for user manual" should be (or should also be) a bulleted item under "How to use this manual" heading in chapter 1.

[1.0.0.2] 12 July 2004 -------
* GUI translated to various languages (external resource DLLs)
(actually just German for the moment, a few others under way)
* console2 now properly handles unix (LF) text output
* tree/quick viewer can be tiled vertically: see nTreeQVTileVertical in registry.txt
* keyboard shortcuts for toolbar buttons in Find and Organize dialogs
* flyby text showing the path for back/forward navigation and quick-bookmark
* View | Visual Filter | Rule based (hyperfiltering for visibility)
"Same filter" forces the active pane filter to the inactive pane
* Actions | Import clipboard for scrap windows: insert items from text paths in
clipboard; one FULL path per line, no quotes or comma separators
Useful for importing from other apps like PIMs
* sorted out UTF-8 bugs in editor2

User Manual version 1.0.0.2-1 is under construction.
Expect it to be publicly available later this week.

see the [news] pane on the x2 page, or read changes.txt (as posted by ckit, above) after downloading the latest version of x2.

note: the [news] is on the page you get redirected to from x2's
Help | check for updates menu selection.

Download trial?

Post by barry »

Where do I download this version? Do I just use the "download trial" button on the front page, or is there another download for registered users of the pro version?

Go to the link that says "Purchase a licence for xplorer² professional". That will take you to a page, were you can download the latest version.

actually "download trial" is also the same (most current) version.
Existing licencees need only unzip and install over the prior version to update -- (at least that's what I did).
& your existing licence status should be recognized without any need to re-enter the key. :)

& don't forget that you canNOT do this from WITHIN xplorer²
-- all instances of xplorer² must be closed to update.
Then update your installation with
Start | Run... | Browse... (to latest xplorer2_setup.exe)

nikos,
It might be a good idea to make it more obvious how to update. ;)

Would be nice to be able to do installation from within X² itself... or at least give warning that copies of X² are still running and that it's imperative to close them first (now installation fails miserably - to use phrasing from X² itself :) )

Better would even be to offer to close existing instances of X² prior to installation and give the user choice to do so if any are found still running (but a warning would be the cheaper option here ;) )
Dumb questions are the ones that are never asked :turn:

and then we'll end up with an installer that is 10GB!
surely some common sense will suffice?

Only for the 'not-so-faint-hearted' :)

But, it's your call...
