Dual tree, four pane ?

Hi!

Is it possible to get dual tree and four pane interface ? Or is it coming in future ? I am using now Turbo Navigator but it is out of date and has some bugs. Your software looks great but I am so familiar with four panes.

if you mean each pane having its own tree, this is not supported
in x2 panes share all the ui elements, tree, quickviewer, statusbar etc

You can, of course, "clone" other instances of x2:
File menu item (Ctrl+Enter) and get another window.

For each window, use (Ctrl+O) to toggle between 1 & 2 file panes
and (Ctrl+T) to hide/show the tree.

So it's easy to get four or more panels, just not in the same window -- unless the 4 panels are tree, quick viewer, + two file panes.

PS: You can, of couse, browse & work independently in each window, even though the N+1st clone starts off matching the Nth window.

To add to the info of Fred:

For 'real' clone, you should use Ctrl+N (menu Window|Clone)

The difference with Ctrl+Enter is this:

Ctrl+Enter
new window created browsing the selected folder in the original pane in the left pane of the clone and the folder that was in the right pane of the original window is shown in the right pane (if dual pane active of course)

Ctrl+N
new window is created browsing the active pane of the original in the left pane and the right pane of the original in the right pane (so if you clone while in the right pane, you'll get a clone showing same folder in both panes!)

A disadvantage of using Ctrl+Enter is that when you do this while focused on a file, an attempt is made to open that file in stead of browsing. Ctrl+N doesn't have this disadvantage and will work regardless of what you are focused on.

Thanks for adding the detailed differences, Jan.
(I suggested Ctrl+Enter because it works from the tree as well as either folder pane. Ctrl+N only works from folder panes.)

That goes to show you: I never use the tree

We all think along the lines we follow ourselves. Hard to think about how other people use X² isn't it
