Off Topic is the New Jerusalem of the Tree of Life.

No one's jumping ship, O fearless leader, sinless of the sinners, magnifikat of magnificence, holder of all our file handling hopes for the future.  Thou art the kingdom and the glory of ... of ... of ... well, I hope you're enjoying the power of married life.

I merely find 117 minute turnaround for an off-hand "feature request" to be impressive.  Bug fixes... fair enough - people usually run to squash them; requests usually require much muddling, debating, weighing of options, consultation with the stockholders, and generally time-off for funerals, marriages, and other tawdry things before anything of real substance gets done.

I guess this Google Summer of Code shite pays off.

The pace of life in Greece is just a little more laid back.  (And no doubt better for it.)

And probably dryer than here.

I don't know what this GSoC stuff is all about. I (personally) spend too less time coding during the whole year.

Well, when I was 16 nobody paid me to work on open-source projects.  Probably why when I was 17 I turned apostate and decided to head off into the world to "find myself" instead.

GSoC might just prevent some unstable youth from getting a true classical education, by paying them to keep their guns at home.

Money really is the root of all evil.

Oh joy, thanks to this endless thread I just became a "Gold Member" (300 bloody meaningless posts).

I guess after 25 years computers did finally give up some gold to me.

I feel old now.

And rather wet.

<Sigh>

Believe it or not, a rat just chewed through my phone line (I live in the country), and had to go outside to fix it.  The above weather reports speak for themselves (uploaded, I might add, with that little utility we're supposed to be discussing).

I knew that joke about chastity belts and personal hygiene would come back to haunt me.  :toung:

P.S.  SysOp, why is the above emoticon's name spelled "toung" instead of "tongue"?  Are BBC boards put together by illiterates?  Weird.

Keep this up and we'll both be those two old Gold Member codgers of the Muppet Boards, instead of just me.

Are there Platinum Members?  Cool!  My youth and vigour have been restored!  I have a goal again, just when I thought there were no more worlds to conquer!

And you must be a sloppy coder if you think 300 - 71 == anywhere near 269.

GSoC beckons to thee!
