Isn't that battery issue another famous case: Sony batteries having metal dust?
Sony recalled millions of batteries...

I think at about the same time Sony batteries in digital cameras also had massive problems; and had to be recalled.

I have a HP550.
My previous notebook was a Sony P111, yes it was that old, sadly, it was killed by a cockroach (I'm not kidding), said cockroach thought it would make it's fvcking nest on top of the chip blocking the vents, I killed the cockroach dead with a blow torch, eye for an eye...

I'm happy with the HP, I did format the HD and partition it to my liking, also downgraded to XP, works as advertised, one tiny nitpick is that the mouse buttons need to be firmly pressed, other than that it's good.
