bugs with IE8

Post by nikos »

does anybody use IE8? Every now and then after some use with a lot of tabs and what have you this fault occurs: the addressbar doesn't respond, you type things and it ignores them. Then you try to close the window and 'it is not responding'. Browsing by clicks still works.

has anybody seen this problem?

:x and then people ask me why i stuck with IE6 for so long, i never had this kind of freak problems then!

Your "new" laptop seems to be haunted, Nikos, with all the luck you have with it.

To topic: Personally I hate IE (all versions) but whenever I've been forced to use EI8 for any length of time on Win7 I've never had a problem.  Google, as you might expect is filled with people's troubles, but that's to be expected and there's no overwhelming consensus as to cause, cure, or even symptoms.

I'll refrain from suggesting the obvious.

Not that Tarnished-Bronze singing La bohème nonsense :D. I meant the only other real browser...and it only starts slowly if you abuse an abnormally large number of extensions.  If used with restraint, there shouldn't be a problem.  If it starts slowly out of the box, one would suspect your laptop really is the pits.

(You'll be happy to know despite your other thread, HP is having a banner year thus far, due mostly to people like you.)

Ever considered Opera?

That is my default browser, pretty fast and does not need any extensions, as most of what FF relies on with extensions is already included by default on Opera.

The new beta version, 10.5, is actually just ahead of Chrome in speed, if that what floats your boat.

Opera is a Firefox clone with some useless (BT client) or even dangerous (Unite) "goodies".

Presto == Gecko :shock:
Any source for that?
And no license discussions?

Are you kidding me. On what basis has this statement been made, justify it.

I don't think I have ever heard of anything so ridiculous in the past week or so.

The better answer would have been to tell, what you mean.

Have you ever used Opera before Mozilla/Gecko became popular?

What has that got to do with it? You answer a question with a question?

Just to take the bait, I have been using Opera since it was add supported. Opera was around way before FF.

You should be asking yourself, when was the last time you used Opera? my version on Linux is 10.10, and by all accounts, 10.5 beta is shaping up to be even better.

If you insist on coming up with ridonculous statements like that, expect a response. I have no problem with other browsers, I have a preference just like you do, and I don't like getting into the browser x is better than browser y because {insert reasons} scam, but think about what your are stating and justify that statement. Otherwise you sound just like a troll.
