the other day I was stranded without internet (for a week!) at a god forsaken place where the telephone connection was destroyed by lightning
do you know of any way to hook up a mobile (cell) phone with a PC and access the internet through the phone's internet connection? (3G/GPRS?)
I know there are special USB sticks that offer a 3G connection to a PC/laptop but I wonder if you can hook up a mobile phone straight (the phone to the computer either by wifi or cable)
to make matters worse the phone is a javafone but let's say it could also be some android running
internet through mobile phone

You would have to check if your phone and plan support tethering... basically the phone acts like a small wifi router for PCs... I have managed to connect a phone via usb cable to a PC and get internet service that way as well...
Most smart phones can do this... some include the necessary software...
