Right-click menu is missing items

Post by billou31 »

I'm running xplorer2 lite on Vista Business x64.

Here's what I see when I right-click a file in Windows Explorer:

And here's what I see in xplorer2:

For these screenshots, I right-clicked on an image. But the results are similar on all files.

Is there any way I can fix this?

Thanks!

I suspect a Vista interface issue because my r-click file context menus are identical for x2 & win Expl on win XP.

On Vista Ultimate 32 bit - I checked an executable, a .ZIP file and a .jpg image - all three context menus were identical.

NOTE:  Added the following:  I should also mention that I used Windows Explorer and Xplorer2 and tried the same 3 files in both - IOW, I checked the same executable in both, the same .ZIP file in both, and the same .jpg image in both.  Also, I *just* realized that this is X2Lite - I was reporting from X2Pro - that may make a difference, though I don't think it should....@fgagnon or @nikos, if I have X2Pro (and the Beta) installed, can I still install X2Lite and use the lite, reduced functionality version (obviously not simultaneously, but just to have it installed so I can see the difference) or will it revert to the Pro version since I have the license key entered in the Pro version?

I wonder, though- looking at those pictures, I see that some of the ones missing are third party shell extensions, or else shell extensions that might be particular to Vista 64bit (Erase - don't know if that is third party or not)....

But as this is Vista 64, and xplorer2 is 32 bit, perhaps xplorer2 is simply not reading all the shell extensions because it does not know to look for shell extensions in additional location on a 64 bit OS?

that's it, 64 bit extensions cannot integrate with xplorer2, but for many of them you can find 32 bit equivalents

Fast Explorer for 32 AND 64 bit!

Post by kanngard »

Can the "Fast Explorer" application be something that helps you out? It can add context menus in applications for both 32 and 64 bit:
"partial Windows x64 Edition support: menu items added from the Submenu Items tab appear on context menus for both 32 & 64-bit apps (other tabs marked with [WOW64] are working with 32-bit applications only);"

More info on Fast Explorer

Fast Explorer adds custom context menus to Windows Explorer AND any other file explorer tool that supports context menus on files, including xplorer2. It support a mix of 64 and 32 bit applications. I'm running Vista 64bit with xplorer2 32bit, and this tool helped me make menu items for my favorite texteditors (32 bit) and 7zip (64 bit) in xplorer2 (32bit, registered version).
You can find it at:

Oh, btw, it's a free (as in free beer) tool!

i don't think so, these guys are missing other 3rd party shell context menu items and this fastexplorer doesn't seem to be affecting them

The bad thing for me is that all TortoiseSVN items are missing... so now I am openning windows explorer to commit and update my SVN projects and that is very annoying.

Is there change this to be solved in near future?

TortoiseSVN Problems in Windows 7 with xplorer2

Post by DavidSalahi »

I'm having a similar problem. TortoiseSVN works fine in Windows Explorer under Windows 7 RC but not in xplorer2. I don't see the TortoiseSVN context menu nor do I see the icon overlays even though I have the "Extract custom icon overlays" option set in xplorer2. I checked my TortoiseSVN settings and the "Show overlays and context menu only in explorer" option is off.

Is this a Windows 7 problem (was working fine for me under Win XP x64). Is there a fix?

yes, either get the 64 bit xplorer2 (www.zabkat.com/x2-64bit.htm) or the 32 bit of TSVN

D'oh! that's the answer...

I should have realized I needed to install the 64-bit version.
Thanks for the quick reply!

I have same problem on Windows 7 x64 RTM. I tried to install 32 bit of TortoiseSVN 1.6.4.xxxx but it doesn't help.

Please release a x64 version of xplorer2 lite.

to be honest i don't think there will be a 64 bit free lite version. Have a look at the professional one which is free to try for 21 days:
