Tell a friend... needs work
Nikos:
I was surprised when I went to the Help—>Tell a friend... link that Internet Explorer was launched to go to Twitter website rather than my default browser Firefox. Consequently, I had to sign in to Twitter and then post the tweet, rather than directly posting the tweet via Firefox, where I am always signed-in.
Furthermore, the message, "xplorer² file manager zabkat.com via @AddThis" should point back to Zabkat's Twitter account and does not. That way someone could easily follow your tweets.

i am not using tweeter and it shows... there is no tweeter feed as a result. I thought that clicking that button would result in a mention of the website link in your tweeter feed, otherwise it wouldn't make much sense!?
sorry about the firefox issue, i don't think it can be helped the way I have ogranized things

You should consider signing up for Twitter. It only takes a moment. Then you can post update information that way as well as to your website and this forum. It can be a simple, effective way to publicize all your great work.
You need not follow other people. Only post a tweet when it makes sense. That's the beauty of Twitter, simple and useful. Other people, like me, will help spread the word.

Ordinarily, like any civilised soul, I wouldn't deign to touch anything related to these silly social networking fads - however, as this is a beta test, I should point out that if this popup "Share" window thing is generated by x2 (via IE), it looks really really bad under higher DPI settings. Never mind that it doesn't even open large enough to be seen initially, given the dimensions of the modal.
And Nikos, it's been said before, and I know you'll just ignore it, but clinging to the sinking ship that is IE just won't bring back vinyl, no matter how much you may want it to. It really won't.

autofilter order and other stuff
Hi Nikos,
The autofilter order is in alphabetical for the name of the application which is opening it, not the extension. I personally would prefer in order of extension (.7z, .exe, .jpg, .rar, .zip).
Of course I don't know if such things are hard coded or not.
Also maybe then it could be listed as
* - All Files
- compressed files
- image files
-----------------------
.7z - 7zip
.exe - Application
.jpg - JPEG file (irfanview or whatever's associated)
.rar - Winrar RAR file
.zip - Winrar ZIP file
--
If it could be inline with each other (as if it were tabbed across) it would look neater. Options perhaps?
----
Some side notes and ideas - maybe saved filters / command scripts / rules could have a drop down menu and sub menus, like file, goto, bookmarks etc. Maybe called Saved Items...
Saved Items
- Visual Filters (ALT+H) - these ones
- saved item 1
- saved item 2
- Selection Filters (ALT+G)
- selection filter 1
- selection filter 2
command scripts should be able to be saved and named also, like the dialog boxes with the other types of filters etc...
infobars could be saveable also.
----
Nice update. Keep up the good work as always...

One definition of civilized is: Having a high state of culture and development both social and technologicalKilmatead wrote:Ordinarily, like any civilised soul I wouldn't deign to touch anything related to these silly social networking fads...
Social networks are not uncivilized. You put your virtual foot in your virtual mouth by being dismissive and disdainful of others who do use them.
Social networking is a valuable marketing tool for developers like Nikos. Not using it is atavistic. And the cost to use these networks is quite low, as in "free".
BTW, my "sharing" window displays correctly so the issue you are documenting is a local issue with your display. Most people don't use higher DPI. They don't know they exist.
<Sigh>, I knew you were going to take that personally - it was meant as tongue-in-cheek humour against the ridiculous popularity of the phenomena. If you found it offensive, I apologise, but in all fairness, social networking can be seen as a disease - just a disease that a lot of people (such as yourself) find useful. Which is fair enough - normally I happily ignore their existence and they ignore mine - I only checked it as a beta thing in x2.RickyF wrote:One definition of civilized is: Having a high state of culture and development both social and technological.
And, just in case you were wondering, to me atavistic is a compliment! I do recognise that those temporal networks are useful for business, and it has been suggested before that Nikos avail himself of them - the suggestions didn't stick to his atavistically sloped forehead either, apparently.
As to the issue, higher DPI is rather commonly used, especially for the higher-resolution LCD's which are becoming more common - people soon discover that true Hi-Rez means "big screen with small-text", so they hunt out the (not too hard to find) settings in the control panel. It's also a useful way of checking different applications' compatibility with a long standing element in Windows. Developers tend to appreciate details like that.
x2 does have a few "visually impaired" users, so one assumes Nikos caters to all equally. The overly sensitive Gregarious types and the blind old Cenobitic types alike.
"Social networks" are an oxymoron (a Greek word which should explain some things...); people who lovingly use them haven't quite understood the term "social". Now where is it "social" to move all personal issues into the interwebz and let people you don't even know be a part of them? Asocial networking.

Do you guys realize that your negative, often hostile comments may disuade other people from commenting or participating in this forum.
Didn't your mothers ever say, "If you don't have something nice to say, keep your mouth closed"? Or in this case your hands off the keyboard.

A discussion held by people who are all of the same kind will never be a productive one. "Yea, right" might be nice, but it doesn't help much.RickyF wrote:Do you guys realize that your negative, often hostile comments may disuade other people from commenting or participating in this forum.

The Guardian news recently ran an article on the mundane pointlessness of twitter, using the tweet below as a example;
"I'm eating a kebab, then I'm going to poo, then sleep."
If this is is socialising, flush it..................
P.S. I'm old school, a good "movement" is a real pleasure, but I certainly am not chirpy enough to tweet my flightless movements
OK, I use to put some folders in the mini-scrap and class them in different groups.
I click right and create a new group membership rule.
Group name: classic
Named (folders): arthemia, images (the name of the directories)
Predefined: classic (save > OK > OK)
So I've got now a group called "classic" with two folders "arthemia" and "images".
I save the cida file (right click and so on), I close xplorer. I launch xplorer. No more groups in my mini-scrap. I right-click, choose "show in group". My new group does not show. Right click, look in custom categorizer. Cannot find my "classic" group.
That's it.
