I can't decide if adobe are the manifestation of the antichrist or they are just plain imbeciles
Re: any problems with PDF search?
Adobe can indeed be a pain. They are Adobe, and we are not.
But to be fair, the issue here is 32-bit vs 64-bit -- I think.
From https://www.adobe.com/support/downloads ... ftpID=5542 :
"Adobe currently bundles a 32-bit PDF iFilter with Adobe Acrobat® 11 as well as the free Adobe Reader® 11 software."
They also have a 64-bit iFilter downloadable from that web site, which I gather is PDFFilter64Setup.msi. I haven't tried it.
I like to have the Adobe Reader, because it is a canonical test: if it can open a PDF file, the file must be OK. (Sometimes my old version of Bluebeam Revu cannot handle a file, but opening and saving with Adobe Reader sometimes makes the file usable.)
Aside: I am familiar with the concept of file filters, but I had never heard of iFilters until I stumbled on it in this forum. And of course: http://zabkat.com/x2plugins.htm .

For future reference, Nirsoft have a simple little tool which will list all the iFilters you have installed on your system, replete with a list of which filetypes they are associated with. There are more under the bonnet than you might think.
