How to suppress xplorer2 context menu entry
Xplorer2 Version 2 has added an "xplorer2" context menu item shown when the right mouse button is clicked. For various reasons I need to suppress this item, but I have not found a way to do this. Many programs that I use have an option to control whether the shell context menu should be augmented by the program, but I cannot find this option in the new Xplorer2 settings or advanced settings dialogs.
Can this option please be added, or does anyone know of an alternative way to remove the entry?

You can turn it off using a free 3rd party tool.

Much like automobile-taxes, cancer, and peanut-butter with marshmallows there are many things you don't know you don't want until you get them (similar to why Santa ended his Returns-Policy a few years after he took up the gig).
Speaking as (apparently) a minority, I rather like it (the menu thing, not the other stuff). I would, however, move the "Organise" entry to the regular "Customise" menu where it belongs, as noted in the fineprint of the Common-Sense GUI Manual under Consistency Issues...

Thanks very much. As the original poster on this topic, let me make a remark. I have spent a great amount of time customizing my Windows right-click menus. I use the excellent File Menu Tools program, which among other things allows me to add icons to top-level menu items. I also investigate the registry, disabling context menu handlers I do not want (unless the program with the handler provides an option), or use Nir Sofer's shell extension inspector ShellExView to do the task for me. The result is a context menu that has items grouped and ordered in a way which supports directly the work I do, and I like it.nikos wrote:allright i'll add a registry tweak for this
and to think how many people over the years have "harassed" me to add this... :?
When it comes to diretly controlling xplorer2, and doing things that might be on a context menu, I use other techniques including internal hotkey accellerators via autoit and autohotkey, custom xplorer2 keyboard remappings via the xplorer2 registry, and a program based on Shakebyte's MenuHack concept that accomplish these goals for me.
Since I could not find any technique with the above methods to put xplorer2 into its proper (ahem) place on my context menu (and I spent possibly 20+ hours investigating and trying various hacks), I made the request I made.

If you understand the purpose of adding things to Toolbars, then you understand the purpose of adding things to context menus. Some people prefer to use context menus rather than toolbar buttons, or a mixture of both. The OP may take his approach a little more seriously than a lay-user might, but that's his prerogative - considering the number of users who seem confused about simple things like how to add bespoke objects to the "Send To" menu, this is just another avenue that some users might find more convenient (for other tasks) than learning to use the same tools as he does. For those who are completely indifferent to customisation, as Nikos has stated, they will be able to disable it as of the next update.ZoNi wrote:...since I don't understand what is the purpose of it...
Speaking as someone who doesn't understand the purpose of allowing humans to have children, I would like to be able to disable them as well, so the world could be a quieter place. Unfortunately the powers that be don't seem to be that accommodating for my tastes.

Actually, that is available as an OS configuration option, but only in certain distributions of Linux.Kilmatead wrote:Speaking as someone who doesn't understand the purpose of allowing humans to have children, I would like to be able to disable them as well, so the world could be a quieter place.
As a side note, I really like how RegexRenameer handles context menus - normal rightClicks on the textBoxes produce the standard Windows contextMenu, however, if you hold down Shift while rightClicking, then a custom field-specific contextMenu appears. While I'm sure most of us will be satisfied with a registry tweak, do consider something more awesomenikos wrote:allright i'll add a registry tweak for this
Update:
This feature is now available as Nikos described.
