is there any way i can make it behave more like my powerbooks 'Finder'?
where the panels refer to the left of them?

HA! i know exactly what you mean thereMKairys wrote:Some future version of xplorer² may be able to show more than two folder panes, but I suspect it would not have the behavior of automatically opening a pane for each folder in a path; this behavior would be quite unfamiliar to most Windows users, and I for one would find it disconcerting, given that my paths are often rather long...
um, i'll give it a shot because i think this can be subjective. honestly though, i think it may not be too useful for xplorer users. now i say this (but i hope it isn't the case) because i think most xplorer users are power users. with two fully independent panes, you can do much much more especially with all the tools available with the program.narayan wrote:Could you tell us a practical example of how that feature is used?
i was worried it might be confusing, there was a learning curve when i first adapted to the systemnarayan wrote:The purpose of my asking was to help you with an equivalent feature in x2...
Your feature seems to have two limitations:
1. If a folder has many subfolders (which have subfolders of their own), the panes will get out of control: you can't control what to show and what not to.
2. As soon as you move a little at top level, the number of panes AND their contents will change. This kaleidoscopic display may be tiring for the eyes/brain and disorienting.
i haven;t yet checked out the PRO version. i'll give it a go!narayan wrote:The scrap containers in the x2 PRO version have solved this by flattening the entire top level folder. You can browse this static list very easily. The path column (in details style) keeps you aware of where you are.
** If you want to browse branch-by-branch, sort all items on path.
** If you like to know where you are in the folder tree, press CTRL+Enter on any item. (Keep your folder synchronized with the folder pane.)
AWESOME!nikos wrote:i don't fancy tabs myself;
multiple windows and the taskbar is all the tabs i need
however, tabs are going to arrive in x2 sometime this year
If it's because you've never tried a good one, please do yourself this favour. http://www.myie2.com/nikos wrote:just hold on to your horses

(and no, i don't use tabbed browsers either, just IE5.5)
