Problems when deleting a folder

Post by raysaun »

I am using 1.0.0.1 LITE. When I delete a folder, most of the time, the folder does not get deleted from the tree. Apparently, the folder really gets deleted, however the tree is not getting updated correctly. This is a great utility, just love it.

i haven't seen this one before
are we talking local or network folders?
if the tree fails to refresh you can use ctrl+R while you are in the tree pane

This was local folders. I was just cleaning up the system after several years and found that the problem showed up about half of the time. I am not sure what was different about the ones that caused the problem to show. I have more cleanup to do and will to spot the difference.

I've seen this occasionally as a delay in when the updated information gets shown in the tree pane -- especially on older w98 system with slow (compared to this year's typical) cpu.
Just how old is this overdue-for-a-cleanup system of yours? :o
{& dare I ask cpu type & speed? ;) }

It appears this is only happening on NT. My other, 3.0 ghz P4 on XP pro, does not do it. This is not just a delay, it just does not go away even after waiting some minutes, unless I Ctrl-R, or otherwise cause the tree to be redisplayed.

I don't know if there's an issue with that version, but it's definitely not up-to-date. (v4.71 was issued with IE5 quite a while ago.)
& sniffing the 'net turns up v4.71 or 4.72 as fixing some security plus misc. problems.
You might try updating it to see if problem goes away.
dll-files.com link to zipped shell32.dll v4.72

that's the problem, too early shell version
i didn't do any testing for version 4 which obviously behaves differently
