Would it be so hard to impliment something that just changes the toolbar images? The defaults look pretty bad in my opinion, especially the back/forward buttons.

(My own toolbar, based on the Windows 2000 icons)

As far as I can tell, all that would need to be done is the option to read the toolbar bitmap from an external file. Either an external bmp, or a dll with the bmp stored as a resource.

you can do that with a tool like resource hacker

nikos, anything new about those "skins" for Xplorer2? Present icons are ugly and borring!

please, I don't want to say that I need option to change skins (although that would be great!) - no, just change those default icons with some better!!! (Phoenity is my favorite!)

that is very important, especialy for Pro version!  :!:

i'll tell you what: since you are so style conscious, why don't you make a set of cool buttons for all the supported commands, and i'll throw them in as an optional skin. Does this make sense? :)

I would also like to be able to change the buttons, I believe the reason why they look like that is because they could not be resized proportionally due to a remainder/decimal when multiplying the width and/or height by a number < 1. Contrary to ZoNi's approach to getting what he wants (i.e. begging someone to implement it) I would like to ask where the icon images used by xplorer2 for the toolbars and etc are located, so I could do it myself. If successful perhaps I could post a tutorial for everyone, or help implement it in the next release. Thank you in advance for any useful replies.

Edit: Er, nevermind. Found them. Shell32.dll

You wouldn't happen to be comfortable sharing all or parts of the source code for x2 lite, would you Nikos? It seems very awkward to ask, since I am a completely new user here. But I think the GUI could be a bit better, and I would like to try and change it. If it is ok with you, or not, let me know.

1. I think that reason is fact that xplorer2 use 256 colors BMPs for those icons...

2. I would do something different, if I am better with graphic :(

3. You can try Ressource Hacker to find those BMPs:

Ok. If someone tells me where the location of the icons in the bmp, and the size of the icons and toolbar can be defined, I will start making easily-importable icon skins, and a tutorial.

icons and things are all in the executable
as zoni said, using a tool like resource hacker can allow you to edit them

x2 of course isn't open source. If you have any recommendations for improving the gui, either aesthetically or functionally, just voice your opinions right here!
