I cannot rename the item in the scrap folder.

scrap folders problem
I have a scrap container with a folder reference (scrap folders are virtual, with pointers to files/folders I think) to a folder in a zip file.
I cannot rename the item in the scrap folder.
E.g. zipfile is called zip1, contains folders set1 and set2.

You can only view the contents of the zip file as if it were a folder (which it is not), but you cannot change names or otherwise edit the contents of the zip file.
(WinZip won't let you do that either -- at least not my current version. -- but I don't have the most recent update.)
If you do open a file in a zipfolder for editing, you will discover that it will be opened in your currently-defined Windows temporary folder, and that's where it will be saved from your editor (not back inside the zipfile).

Renaming or editing files within archives
Greetings–
If you use WinZip (at least the latest 9.0 SR-1 version), you can perform a number of operations on files within archives.
1) You can double-click any file in the archive to open it in the associated application. The file can then be saved under another name, if desired. When it is saved under a different name, it can be added to the currently open ZIP file (Add button).
2) Any file in the archive can be selected, then deleted, i.e. removed from the archive.
3) When a file from an archive is open in the associated application, you can edit and even save it under the same name, however it is saved in the temporary folder where WinZip opened it (the default temp folder on your system or the custom working folder as defined in the WinZip options). When you have saved the file, WinZip will ask if you want to update the currently open archive with the modified file. You can answer Yes or No. If you answer Yes, the archive is updated with the modified file and the temp file automatically deleted. If you do not wish to update the archive with the modified file and answer No, WinZip will ask if you want to delete the modified file stored in the temp folder.

Robert2, thanks for nudging me to update my WinZip.
It still doesn't change the answer to joeking's question.
But I will try to clarify --
One cannot change the names of files & folders inside zipfiles without expliciltly extracting them, renaming them and then adding them back into the zipfile. And that is because the zipfile is not a folder, even though the OS can display its content as it were a folder in the shell namespace. Because xplorer2 browses the shell namespace, it receives all the benefits and limitations of this OS capability. So displaying the contents in a scrappane does not change the situation.
It still doesn't change the answer to joeking's question.
But I will try to clarify --

I think there is still something wrong.
The item in the scrap pane is not the zip folder inner folder. The item in the scrap pane is a pointer to the folder. I can't see why the item cannot be renamed.
I hope the scrap pane doesn't think that it is the actual folder I want to rename.
I want to change the pointer and not the thing pointed to.

The scrappane only uses the actual item names as pointernames.
There is no option to do otherwise, as far as I know.
However, I see your query as an excellent suggestion:
... to be able to create distinctively named pointer/aliases for items in saved scrappanes.
This would be very useful for similarly named items in collections -- especially for items which are not individually commented to begin with, and for items you really do not want to change the names of (which you CAN do for 'regular' items from the scrappane display of the collection - perhaps unintentionally
).
This would be a scrappane database special column, not a namespace AFS entry, and it would be useful for all saved scrappane content, not just items in archive files.
The scrappane only uses the actual item names as pointernames.
