kenny lite?

Post by hpp3 »

I see a new beta is out, I downloaded to see what's new, and the readme says there is a beta for xplorer2 lite. Is kenny lite not out yet? If it is where to get it? Maybe the changes only apply to Pro? Just wondering...

Please, don't cut features out.
Just keep creating new ones for the Pro version.

i'm not cutting anything from 1003 but it is unlikely that tabs will end up in the lite version

it seems like the world doesn't appreciate what i give them for free anyway...

I can live without the "tabs" I've only ever needed them in Firefox anyway. I appreciate all the hard work you put into xplorer2 but if you take away the Lite version there's a greater risk of people buying Total Commander instead.

I'll probably stay with xplorer2 Lite v1.0.0.3 even after the next version goes Final. I guess I'm happy with the way it is already.

Ditto! Trying out the Pro beta, seems like tabs are an extra I would have to FIND a use for, but a clever idea nonetheless.

Nikos, just so you know, ever since I started out 5 years ago with a second-hand 486 DX40, 64Megs RAM and 2 HD's 120 and 240Megs each running Windows 95 and an AOL (ick) account, I have been VERY appreciative of what you crafty codesmiths dream up and give away for free. And (from the You've Probably Heard This One Before department) if I ever win a pile of money, you and some other choice individuals will be on the receiving end, kapisch?
So Thanks, Merci, Danke and Gracias from the bottom of my heart for making a powerful, easy to use DUAL PANE file manager (how could M$ miss such an obviously useful feature... wait, what am I saying...) and giving away a little brother version for FREE.

P.S. I'm also quite happy with 1.0.0.3 lite as it is. Thanks again.

thanks for the encouragement

when i am talking about people not appreciating what i offer, i mean the minority that get their hands dirty and help themselves with the pro version illegaly... ckit knows what i mean!

there's no doubt that many people are appreciative and happy with what's on offer, but as usual a minority spoils the party for all :(

Well instead of using serials, you could try using license keys similiar those that WinRAR uses but you'd still have people craching the app it would just be a bit harder for them.

Nikos, I just want to say thanks again for this great free program. I think it's the best!

I too can live without tabs - the navigation system in xplorer2 lite is so good (being able to click up and down the dir structure at the top of each pane, plus being able to press the Alt key to open a folder in the other pane) that I really don't need them.

The one feature I would really like to see added is a 'launch bar' where I could put icons for my fave programs. For example, I have several mp3 players, so it would be nice to be able to drag music files to a launch bar to start the player with the song loaded. Same goes for several viewers for picture files.

I also agree it is sad if pirates start issuing serials etc for the pro version. This might be more understandable for big and expensive commercial programs, but really unfair for a one-man, low-cost project like xplorer2.

best regards and keep up the good work! Some of us really do appreciate it!

:D
