Dork needs help with Save Layout

Post by dpupello »

Ack. Window, Save Layout is not working correctly for me. And yes, I have "Save Program State on Exit" ticked in Options.

Since I haven't seen anything lately on the board about this topic, perhaps it's just me, or my system.

Here's the problem. When I get a layout that I like, such as a C:\Web\Citygate as the left pane, and G:\Web as the right pane (with no tabs on either pane), I choose Save Layout, then name it Web Folders, and use a description of "Web folders like Citygate and Web".

(The quick start guide, and full manual, don't seem to specify doing anything different than entering a Name and a Description in this Save Layout dialog box).

Okay, normally I open up a fresh single copy of X2 which by default opens as C:\Upclnts and left pane, and L:\Upclnts as right pane.

Then I would think, that I could click on the Window menu, Web Folders which should open a new X2 window with my chosen layout of C:\Web\Citygate as the left pane, and G:\Web as the right pane.

But this does not happen. Blah! :D

What I get is a new window with C:\Upclnts\Administer as left pane, and G:\Web as right pane. (\Administer is a valid subfolder of C:\Upclnts).

What am I doing wrong?

Or is there a registry key I could clean out to start from scratch?

This is just one example, but everytime I try to save a particular layout, a similar problem occurs.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

"layouts" save the position of toolbars and splitters
they have got nothing to do with folders browsed on startup

if you want x2 to start at some specific address, just use a desktop shortcut with command line options, e.g.

xplorer2.exe path_1 path_2

you can also use bookmarks, the new folder groups and other methods to position x2 where you want after you start it up
