Create, Edit Zip files in Lite and User Manual

Post by gaj_kansas »

I just installed xplorer2. Seems to be an excellant program. I've used Windows Comander for years and Magellan Voyager some.

Two questions: I can't seem to be able to figure out how to manipulate ZIP files in x2 - it will open and browse them. How to create an archive ZIP file? Do I need an add-on or something?

Second: I see references in the Forum for a User Manual. Is the manual only for the Pro version? or is there a manual for Lite? I usually actually read manuals when I install new programs - they sometimes even help understand function and process.

BTW the forums are helpful and informative.

re zip-files, (quoting from the Quick start guide, at Help | Quick start )
"xplorer² can copy to and from all three major folder categories, including zipfolders, FTP etc (if supported by the OS). "
and
"Zip folders requires Windows ME or Windows XP (for windows 2000 please see FAQ B4) "

There is only one User Manual: it covers both Pro & Lite.
The features which apply only to the Pro version are labelled as such.
And it would have been downloaded & installed in your program directory, & accessible via F1 from xplorer², if you had clicked that option.
For all available downloads (including the manual), goto http://netez.com/xplorer2/alldown.htm.

Happy reading. :D

in the sake of completeness, x2 comes with 2 manuals, a "quickstart" version that is available almost always (Help | Quick start) and a "family size" downloadable version like fred said (Help | Contents)

If you havn't got WinXP or WinME then you will need an archive program such as WinZip or WinRar etc to create zip files.

See the thread "Additions to Chapter 8" for links to some other great (free) Zip applications.
