I've only just noticed that a new version of xplorer lite is out - and it's got window pane tabs! Ok, I don't know how to use them yet but look forward to checking out this new feature. Tnx for including it in the lite version Nikos
Btw, for anyone installing the new version, I did it by renaming my existing xplorer_lite folder to a new name (eg, "xplorer_old", so I could easily revert to 1.003 in the event of problems), and installed the new version to a new explorer_lite folder. That way all my launch shortcuts, toolbar settings, preferences, etc are retained (just delete the new start menu group created during the install and you're set to go).
Now I'm off to figure out how the new window tabs work
The window arrangement that Nikos has included in the x2help.htm helpfile (scroll down to 'Overview - Figure 1') seems a good way to make use of the tabs feature...
Up until now I had been using the default vertical 2-pane arrangement.
Since tabs have been introduced to the lite version, I would like to make one itty bitty litte tiny feature request..."Open in New Tab" in the context menu when you right click on a folder. Yeah, CTRL-Insert works quite nice, but... well... you know.
Few ideas:
- is it possible to make tabs fuly XP skinable? See the screenshot (up: Xplorer2, down: Maxthon browser)
- could you add some "middle" click options? Like: middle button (wheel) click on the tab will close it... and rotating of mouse wheel will rotate open tabs...
that's not a bad idea but i never really thought mousewheels properly
if implemented it should be a solution for everything in x2's window
a future improvement at some point!
remember those things we discussed some while ago, about the wheel scrolling whichever window happens to be underneath the mouse, whether activated or not... that kind of stuff
