Virtual Folders

Post by Jedimaster »

Hi, I found Xplorer2 recently and am quite impressed by its functionality. So far, I've not been able to find any file manager which uses the Alternate Data Stream feature to store comments.

There is one thing I would like to ask.

In Xplorer2, you can create scrap containers which are essentially virtual folders to store your most frequently assessed files all in one folder, regardless of the actual location of these files. You can also have different scrap folders according to the purpose of the scrap containers.

Question:
Is there any way to view the scrap containers within the main window of Xplorer2? It would be nice to have a subpane located at say, the bottom left part of the main window showing the various scrap containers available. Clicking on any of these scrap containers would show the contents of the scrap container would show the scrap pane in place of the folder pane. I find this easier rather than having a separate window for each scrap container.

Regards,
Gilbert

this is not possible at present
scrap views have (some) different menu & toolbar commands
however, you can press <ctrl+enter> (or ctrl+d-click) in a scrap window to load the hilighted file(s) or folders in a regular browser window

Intergrate Scrap Container into Main Window

Post by Jedimaster »

Hi Nikos,

Since the scrap container cannot be viewed within the main window itself at the moment, are there any plans to allow scrap containers to be included under the tree pane in the future. I find viewing the scrap pane within the main window to be more intuitive and easier than opening a new window for each container.

if they are integrated in the main view then they could find their way in the tree, too. But as i've explained in a different post it isn't as easy as it sounds since a folder and a scrap file have substantial differences
