I just bought xplorer - what a great help.
I have some questions about enhancements. I was formerly using AB Commander. And it has some features I like (or got used to). Such as a toolbar for each pane. And a drivebar for each pane. I noticed in other threads that a drivebar has been discussed but is it for each pane or just global?
Also a mini configurable toolbar for each pane would be great. Or if not configurable maybe just a few important functions. Now I find myself clicking the main toolbar and I have the wrong pane active.
Also a favorites drop down menu for the each panes toolbar would be nice. I got used to just hitting a panes favorites dropdown and that pane is then active with my dir in it.
I know you are trying to stay lean and mean but these are things I want d*mmit. Just kidding. :D
Be easy on me.

Jay,
You are right that toolbars are not pane-specific.
... And drivebars are yet-to-be-implemented.
(Although they were abundent in x2's predecessor, 2xExplorer; they were eliminated in a move towards simplicity. However, many users seem to want them back, so nikos has said he would accommodate them in a future release.)
The issue of forgetting which pane is active is common.
What I have done for my setup is to set the inactive pane to an unmistakably dark color using the Tools | Options... | Window | Inactive background dialog.
My Red, Green, Blue values are set to 217, 192, 187 respectively, which yields a pinkish grey -- but light enough for contents to be easily readable.
I have also used a registry tweak to activate the Active pane titlebar color option to match that of the Active window titlebar.
see registry.txt and here for more info on how to do this, if you are interested.
PS - Welcome to the x2 'club' :)

As for now, the Bookmarks menu is about a half an inch above the toolbar.jayfischer wrote:Is there any talk of having a pull down menu for favorites - instead of using multiple buttons for specific folders?
That's what I have now 5 specific buttons for my favorites. But it would be nice to use just one pull down.

If that bothers you then why not use shortcut keys for your favorite bookmarks. Then they are only one key press away (augmented by the Ctrl and/or Shift/Alt modifers)jayfischer wrote:OK. Guilty. I got hung up so much on getting something on the toolbar I forgot the menu system. But I do have to travel that extra 1/2 inch times about 20 times a day times 365....
Personally, I still use a 'Favorites' folder with shortcuts to everything I want to get to quickly (and yes, that favorite folder is bookmarked with a key combo assigned to it
Dumb questions are the ones that are never asked

I'm kind of a mouse bigot. I keep the keyboard tucked in his little house under the desk until absolutely necessary.
But the favorites folder intrigues me. I will give it a shot.
Nothing easier though than having a pulldown on a panes toolbar with favorites on it. Pane is selected with that dir in it. ONE mouse click. :o
Thanks.
