Visual filter wildcard for folders

Post by mario_a »

Is it possible to apply a visual filter (Ctrl + H)  to folders, in addiition to files ?

If not, please consider this as a feature request  :)

not quite sure what you mean, but View | Visual Filter has a few items pertaining to folders. For more control there are rule-based filters (reserved for the pro version)

I meant that when I select View -> Visual Filter -> Wildcard (or press Ctrl + H), I would like the filter that I specify in the 'Visual Filter:' dialog to be applied to folders as well (in addition to being applied to only files, which is the current behaviour).

For example, assume that in the current folder I have 3 files named 1.txt, 2.txt, and 3.txt, and 3 folders named 1, 2, and 3. When I select View -> Visual Filter -> Wildcard (or press Ctrl + H),  and type 1 in the 'Visual Filter:' dialog, I would like only 2 items to be displayed : the file 1.txt, and the folder 1 . Xplorer's current behaviour is to display the file 1.txt, and all 3 folders, since the filter *1* is applied only to file names.

Hope I was clear this time. Is this possible in the Lite version, or is something like this reserved only for the Pro version?

Mario

ok, now i see
ctrl+H in both lite+pro versions allows all folders through
you can achieve what you want with pro version's View | Visual filter | rule based
