Copying data to another program

Post by komobu »

Hi;

I did a search for all the mp3 files on my computer and I came up with just over 6000. The info is in a scrap container. I would like to copy all the file names and path data to a text file or Excel worksheet. is this possible?

Thanks
Pat

1. In scrap container, details view, keep just the columns you want to copy
[ View | select columns... ]
2. Select all items:  Mark | Select all [ or Ctrl+A ]
3. Edit | Copy columns [ or Ctrl+P ]
4. open an empty text file (or Excel worksheet) and paste the data into it with your favorite technique. e.g.:  Edit | Paste [ or Ctrl+V ]

See p127 of user manual (Press F1). It describes your specific issue!

yes, ctrl+P was done with excel in mind, since it separates columns with TAB characters, something that excel recognises to recreate the original columns!
