Or use the command line switch '/P' which forces the newly started X² to start a new process in stead of attaching to an existing X² process already running. (But I think quitting every all existing windows beforehand is better, since you won't be confused about which window is which versionfgagnon wrote:"kenny" is just nikos' name for the alpha
and as has been mentioned many times: you MUST quit all instances of x2 before running a different version, or the second one will pass the job off to the code already running, and quickly unload itself.

EDIT: I see this was addressed earlier--sorry. The problem was, as mentioned in the previous post, a left-over Word temp file. The error message is indeed ignorable, and x2 is working just fine. Many thanks.
________
Howdy:
Just installed the latest alpha. It crashed pretty quickly. The first thing I did was navigate to a folder with some Word documents in it. I clicked on one and got this message box:
_____
Debug Assertion Failed!
Program: C:\Program Files\x2alpha\unicode\kenny.exe
File: C:\Documents and Settings\umeca74\My Documents\cpp\kenny\folderItem.cpp

For information on how your program can cause an assertion
failure, see the Visual C++ documentation on asserts.
(Press Retry to debug the application)

I clicked Abort and xplorer2 went away. The relevant dbmon output appears to be:
Let me know if you need more info. My OS is Windows 2K Pro.

The single instance feature in X2 1.1.0.8 simply rocks!!!!!!!.
This feature marks the end of Windows Explorer as my default shell folder application, which i guess, I've been using for last 9 years. Hurray!!
PS: The couple of new features that you have added in the last few alphas tempted me to move on from lite version and purchase xplorer2 Pro. Gr8 work nikos

Buffer error sending playlist to mp3 player
Think I got a bug here but it could be based on the mp3 player software.
When I send a list of selected mp3s to XMPlay or MediaMonkey I get the error below.
However, it differs by the number of files I have selected. For XMPlay, i got an error everytime I selected 6 or more mp3s.
For MediaMonkey, I got the error after more than 11 files. However, in one instance, I got the error but MediaMonkey had the files in the playlist."
Does X2 have a limit as to the amount of text it can pass to another application?

Startup Speed
It seems that the xx08 alpha version loads a bit faster than the xx03 version even though I've loaded a bunch of buttons. It is especially faster when I specify a folder to start in.
However, when I have the Folder Tree showing and I specify "MyComputer" or "Desktop" as the startup folder, X2 tries to read the floppy drive, causing a 1 to 2 second "hiccup" delay.
My concern is not so much for the delay it causes but the annoying "urrkh" sound my floppy drive makes when it's being scanned with no disk in it.
Is there a way to prevent X2 from scanning the A:\ drive at startup/launch?
