Hi;
I noticed that folks have been asking for a revised, customizable toolbar. If there are plans for upgrading the x2 toolbar, there is one addition to that toolbar might help make x2 an indispendable component of Windows file management by making sure it is always launched.
Add a Global Toolbar, that
a) includes the ability to launch programs, files, scripts, column settings, layouts; all of which can be done with the current toolbar.
b) allows for cuztomizable icons.
c) can float even when X2 is minimized.
The global toolbar can replace a launcher that folks have. Instead of using another program to launch apps, etc. folks can use X2. This also means that x2 can be set to launch at startup which is when you would want your toolbar to be ready.
When the toolbar is launched at startup, you should have an option that only the toolbar is visible but the X2 program interface can sit minimized in the taskbar/traybar waiting until needed. Another feature would be to allow the user to close X2 but the global toolbar remain open. In fact, if it is possible, as long as the toolbar is running you can keep some part of x2 in memory for better performance.
I don't think a global toolbar is outside the specs of a file manager. In fact, I thought of this when someone mentioned why they still use the PowerDesk final manager. I realized I had PowerDesk installed even though I only use it for the toolbar, nothing else.
What do other folks think?
