Can't rename previewed PDFs

Post by Brig »

[Just noticed an earlier post about this issue--sorry. It is an Adobe thing.]

Howdy:

I've just discovered that I can't rename PDFs that are previewed in the ctrl-q window. The message is:
Cannot rename [file]: There has been a sharing violation.
The source or destination file may be in use.
The program "Who Lock Me?" reveals that x2 is the locker. Getting rid of the preview window does not solve the problem (nothing seems to).

Oddly, not all PDFs can be previewed, and I can't figure out why; size doesn't seem to be an issue because some very large PDFs can be previewed and some small ones can't. The PDFs that are not preview-able can be renamed. So it's the previewing that's probably the problem, which makes suspect it's an Adobe thing and not an x2 thing.

Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks,
Brig

yes, sadly the adobe plugin is full of bugs, including all you've observed:
* locks files (can't be deleted or renamed unless you quit x2)
* fails on some files (haven't managed to nail it down)

both versions 5 & 6 have the "lock" bug, I am not sure whether the latest v6 can read files that v5 (the recommended one) can't

i have reported the bugs to adobe but ain't too optimistic :(
