quick view bug with video? etc.

Post by jimspoon »

Did a search, didn't see that this has been reported yet.

When using quick view to browse through video clips, xplorer2 crashes after I've browsed through a few clips.  However, I was not using the WMP control to stop the video before clicking the next video.  I think that since I started stopping the video before clicking on the next video, that problem hasn't recurred.

However, I don't think I've had the same problem with other media types - e.g. sounds - I can move the focus to a different file without stopping playback of the current sound, and start playing another sound immediately.  This is a great feature by the way.

have you found a pattern to this or a sure way to crash it? (what is it?)
what kind of files are we talking about?

Yeah, I just tried to crash xplorer2 and I was able to do it all right!

I have a folder of captured video clips (DV AVI format, Type 2 AVI files), as captured from a camcorder, but processed with Scenalyzer to split it up into separate files for each "scene".  The files are 50-100-150 MB each.   It's really handy to scroll down the list of files to see what's on each clip, and easier if I don't have to "stop" the clip playing in the Quick View window before moving the focus to the next clip in the files pane.

Anyway, it always seems to crash xplorer2 after scrolling through about 5 or 6 video clips in this manner.  I just did it again, twice.  It may depend on how quickly I try to move through the files.

Should I run Dependency Walker or what?

so you think that if you used stop before switching to the next video it wouldn't crash?

try this debug version
www.ps.ic.ac.uk/~umeca74/dbmon.zip

Right, Nikos ... at least I haven't seen it crash yet when I clicked the stop button before loading the next video clip in Quick View.

I downloaded that version of Dbmon, ran it before I started up xplorer2 - I don't see any logging going on in the Dbmon window - what's going on?  Did I not run Dbmon properly?

I am running xplorer2 1.1.0.3.

nope.

in the dbmon.zip archive is kenny.exe, which is an alpha-compile of the x2 1.2.0.0 [Unicode] DBG

after starting dbmon, then start kenny
... but close all other x2 instances first, & start kenny from start | run | etc, or from winExplorer.
