Maybe I'm missing it, but I can't seem to find any way within X2 to get to the Explorer "Folder Options" dialog. This is where you can set file associations, etc.
It'd be a really nice enhancement to add this feature. In my example, I am in the details view and wanted to change a file association, and had to resort to opening a copy of Explorer to get to the Folder Options dialog.
Sure it is! Within Explorer, you get the property sheet for "Folder Options" .... Calling up Control Panel from within any app, or from the start menu, is still calling up another interface, from which you THEN have to invoke the same property sheet. It just seems intuitive to be able to change these options from within Explorer, yet from X2, you have to open Control Panel then pick one of the applets. This may seem like an insignificant nuance, yet it involves another completely distinct app (Control Panel). If I have to invoke CP every time I wanted to effect a "simple" change such as a file extension association, then the utility of such a powerful app is sacrificed, IMHO. My .02, YMMV.
If you'll be changing associations enough to justify it, you can always create the following custom user command that opens the folder options dialog and then call it with a button or keyboard shortcut:

Nikos' idea seems to be the least intrusive, that's what I've been using. It does require you to jump off the current folder over to Control Panel, but that's not too bad.
