Wishes/Questions for X²

Post by 2-of-omega »

Good Evening,

due to some users at the german Firefox Forum I heard about your great X2. I like it more than the other alternativ file explorers as
"FILE GENERAL CONTROL CENTER - 1.0.3",
"ExplorerXP - 1.06" and
"Windows File Explorer - 0.54.78".
which I used before.

I set my praise and ecstasy about X2 to the end of this posting, so you all won't get bored ;)
So, now I start with my questions, wishes, requests wich would increase the X2 to the best imaginable file explorer for me. :)

---------------------------------------
wishes for improvements for X²
---------------------------------------

- Tabbrowsing, configurable to the upper side of the window like Firefox.

- Preview for UFO-files (Ulead Foto Object are images like PSD-files for Adobe Photoshop), which are bigger as 1 MB - at the moment it's not possible.

---------------------------------------
I search and wish for an explorer
---------------------------------------

- which uses the copy-window from "Flashfxp" for FTP on the local machine, too.

- which shows the size of the files inside a folder like "NERO Burning Rom".

- which is automatically configurable, to overwrite older or smaller files during the local-file-copy-process or rename them with a "_(2)", it should although be possible showing the whole file-details when it requests, like "ACD See 7.0"

- which shows the system-informations, file-information and running processes in an area under the main windows, like the "Filegeneral" and the "Process Viewer".

I know, this is much for a "newbie", but I see the X2 as the best alternative, no, as the best File Manager, much better as the Windows Explorer.
X2 even recognizes the order to go forward or backward from the additional mouse keys, which really don't make many other explorers.

It is great, much better then the most payed browsers.
If I could please for something, then would it be, that you check my suggestions and try to build them into your next versions, because this file-explorer is so usefull and helpful to make my wishes true like firefox and im2.

Your Browser is super, just great!

nice greetings
2 of omega

PS:
I know that my english would be better if I would hear to what my girlfriend told me, but I don't want to, and so you must read this really bad text ;D

If I understand your questions, some of what you ask is already done.
& no doubt nikos will have more to add regarding your suggestions;
but I will respond with what I can:

@ tabbrowsing configurable to upper side -
see: Tools | Options... | Advanced Folder tabs on top

@ shows the size of files inside a folder -
see: Tools | Options... | Advanced Calculate subfolder size automatically  [or use Ctrl+D to display manually]

@ automatically configurable to overwrite older ... files -
This is implemented as part of "robust transfer" in the Pro version.

As for the other items you mention ........

>> I don't know about Ulead or Flashfxp applications or their file formats, so I cannot comment on them.

>> regarding systems information - nikos is often receptive to suggestions that add to file management productivity.  You may want to discuss the specific items you find valuable in the applications you name.

>> regarding xplorer2 being the best file manager around -
Of course :!: :D

Hi again :)

Thank you both so much for your reply!! :)
Everything you said works now very very very good!

It's just sad, that I have to buy the pro Version for the copy operations, when they are just implantet in the pro version.

------------------------------
a new question
------------------------------

It is possible to open and close a new Tab with the middle mouse button like in Firefox? it would be pretty if this possible.

---------------------------------------------
thoughts to the System window
---------------------------------------------

To the "System windows" under the "file browse windows".
I advice test the programms, which I named, so you can better imaging what I mean.

I also maked some "pix" which describe what I think.
Ahhh... I get problems with my webhosting, I need some time till I can update this post, or someone could upload this pics for me?
This first three pictures shows System informations which are showed in "File General Control Center".

1st Picture shows a Systeminformation, hard disk information

this depends on your point of you
from my point it's excellent news ;)

i don't see why there has to be a single tool that does everything especially things that don't have any relation to file management like system information, clocks etc
