Instead of creating a new directory, F8 is now (as of last night) acting like Ctrl+Insert and creates a new folder tab. F7 still correctly creates a new file. This morning I reinstalled 1.2.0.1 from a fresh download ... F8 still misbehaves. Is there a registry fix I might try?
Thanks,

Added later: Selecting "New Folder F8" from the Actions menu works correctly (i.e., creates a new folder).

I installed this morning 1.2.0.1 because I first noticed the F8 problem with 1.2.0.0. Last Wednesday my HDD crashed and I've been recovering since then. My first reinstallation was xplorer2 in which F8 worked correctly until last night when I rebooted after reinstalling a few other programs. With all the same programs, xplorer2 worked correctly before the crash. It's probably an "installation order" thing. I have not consciously remapped the keyboard, although that's an interesting thought. The last program I reinstalled is ActiveWords which watches the keyboard in order to respond to preprogrammed key sequences. I'll try removing ActiveWords.
