Copy/Move dialog box size

Post by Brig »

Howdy:

The paths that I have stored under the "Here" drop-down list on the copy and move dialogs are long and the ends are hidden--the only way to find out the actual destination folder is to select it from the list. It can be tedious and time consuming to find the right one in this way. Would it be possible to make this dialog box sizeable, so I could widen it to see my full paths? Or would it be possible to make the full paths visible on a mouseover?

Thanks a lot,
Brig

i'll do something about it
in the meantime, you can either press the down arrow key, where you'll get each successive path scrolled to the end (with or without opening the drop-down portion), or use the standard autocompletion method where you type any part of the required path and hit up arrow

Right, that does work very nicely. It's just that I'm usually mousing when it's time to copy/move files. Maybe I'll try changing my ways.

Or maybe I'll just wait.

the most user-friendly solution would be to ditch the combo box and replace it with a list view of "favorites" which could be a regular filesystem folder containing shortcuts

Yes, I agree, that would be great.

Still, I like that the dialog tracks the folders I've visited: you know, sometimes, some days, you have to make heavy use of folders that aren't really favorites. Favorites are long-term things; some folders are "favorites"--or "necessities"--for only a day or two.

Maybe a list of favorites could be combined with a dynamic record of visited folders. That would be pretty cool.
