Two questions

Post by imtrobin »

Hi,

I'm a new user evaluating the Pro version.

1. Is there a way to set Ctrl-F to use the windows default search? I see instructions for the lite version only. As I use FileLocator Pro, it is a better searching tool which I replaced the windows default search so hoping to be able to use that instead of Xplorer2 search.

2. Can I use the mouse to arrange the icons in unsorted mode? In windows, after I set the Auto Arrange and Sort by Name on, I can still drag to rearrange the icon order.

This is because I want to put the certain folders on top (eg C:\Program  Files), while my folders appear the bottom after the default sorting. Xplorer2 now defaults to copying the folder if I use left drag.

Thanks.

1. you may be able to access it through the context menu of any folder. Still, what feature of FileLocator Pro you think is missing from x2's search tool?

2. this isn't possible. This kind of manual arrangement only makes sense for folders like the desktop

Anyway to replace it like the lite version? I don't have it in the context menu as my context menu is too cluttered. I replaced the default windows Ctrl-F to use it.

I have not checked x2 search tool in detail, probably similar but I'm used to FP and its scripting

Actually I use this style of sorting in my folders in WinXP, not for desktop only. Because I need to put certain

How does the Arrange by Unsorted works in x2 then?

i had a look at filelocator; looks good but it is dedicated to search; in x2 the "mode" is file management. Still you'll find that most functionality exists, if not more when it comes to search criteria. Report wise it wins hands down, and there's no scripting in x2 neither

there's no way to hijack ctrl+F like in the lite version, but in the pro you can have any user tool linked to x2 and assign it to a key. See customize menu and the helpfile.

"unsorted" mode isn't related to positioning, only order. In fact it means "orderless", files are listed as they exist on the hard disc

Thanks, I managed to hijack it using hotkey master.

I see. Well, it would be good if x2 windows would duplicate functionality of the explorer windows with the extra power features! Hope you can do this in the future releases

BTW, just got a crash from x2 just down, but didn't take down the exception address.

I can't quite remember. It's think I was trying to copy a file from one tab to another.
