Auto rename duplicate?

Post by hawkes »

Is there a way to have files automatically renamed if I drag them to a folder that already has a file with the same name? I'm given the options of overwriting or cancelling, but I'd prefer to be able to just have it renamed as file[1], file[2], etc..

Thanks.

Ok thanks. Guess that's one more reason for me to upgrade eventually. :)

I've downloaded the trial of the pro version, but if I drag a file to a folder where there already is a file with that name I'm just asked if I'm sure I want to replace the file.

How do I get it to auto rename?

Thanks.

Drag-n-drop actually uses the Windows' file transfer function. So you will not get the rename feature.

To get the rename if identical file exists in destination feature, use F5 (to copy)/F6 (to move). For further details refer to User Manual (press F1).

yes, check the "options" button in the F5 dialog
