save window position

Post by brown705 »

Hi all:

I'm just getting into this xplorer2 lite program, and I very much like what I see so far.

One issue I am having is with the window position.  I want to have the program maximized on my seconary display when launched, but it continues to launch as a window (non-maximized) on my primary display.  I have done Actions -> Save Settings Now and I have tried leaving "Save Program State on Exit" checked in the options; neither make the program save its window position, though they do save the configuration of the program properly.

Any ideas?  Thanks.

what about placing it somewhere in the 2nd monitor but not maximised? will the position be remembered then?

No, it does not remember the position then, either.

Any ideas?  Is this a bug in the "save window position" coding?

Thanks.

i have a dual window display and it works for me ok
for testing, leave a small-ish window near the centre on the 2nd monitor; will that be remembered?

Not only is a small-ish window in the center of the secondary display not remembered, but when I launch it again, the window appears on the primary display sized larger than the small one that I saved (on the second display).

Last I heard, nikos was running w2k
What about your video cards, any differences there?

I have a Matrox G450 AGP dual-head card running in "separate" resolution mode.  This mode treats the two heads as two separate displays, rather than streching display one across two monitors.

that must be the problem
how did you activate this mode?

In the Matrox Millenium G450 drivers advanced configuration, "DualHead" tab, Features -> DualHead Multi-Display.  By clicking "Change Settings...", you'll get a window that asks if you'd like "separate" or "same" resolution across both displays.  It is the difference between having one long (or tall) rectangular display across two monitors, or treating each monitor (head) as its own display, where you can have different resolutions and color depths.  It really is the same as if you had two, single-display video cards.  You can change the orientation of the two displays in the standard display drivers "Settings" tab, just like if you had multiple, single-display video cards.

Which means for testing purposes, you should be able to use two single-display video cards to replicate this configuration (at least I'd like to think so).
