Just asking
I want to know if there are any plans for a .NET series of 2X and X². The .NET platform is included in Win2k3, can be installed on XP, and it will be (from my knoledge) the base for Win Longhorn. This means no more PE. Since Longhorn will be released next year I think a .NET x² should be available for it.

there are no plans for it, no
there are many reasons for it:
* i secretly hope the whole .NET thing goes to the dogs and doesn't catch on
* it will be some time till the majority of users switches to longhorn even after it is released
* we don't know how windows explorer will be like in longhorn; perhaps it will be that good so that it wipes away the cometition (a bit unlikely)
i bet everybody in the file manager market are getting cold sweats thinking about 1-2 years down the road... it's going to be a rough ride for everybody!
