Ok, now I don't have to found out what "benign" means.

Maybe the problem is, that it is Friday the 13th  :wink:

Thank you for the rgbFilterBgcol option!  This was the first registry tweak for xplorer2 I'd ventured to try and it took some fooling around - but it works!

Yes, having user specifiable colors is not only a treat, but more importantly, it saves time by reducing confusion & the asssociated errors.
Besides showing emphatically when a folder view is filtered, you can also specify the active folder pane color in the registry ...
(the inactive usercolor background setting has been available for a while now under Tools | Options... | Window .)

As an example, I have my preferences set as

rgbActiveBgcol = 00d0ffdc  {light green}
rgbFilterBgcol = 0080e0f0  {amber}
rgbInactiveBgcol = 00e6e6e6  {light gray}

... your preferences will likely be different. ;)

======added===========
PS (for reference & as posted elsewhere)
The 'rgb' colors in the REG-DWORDs are positioned in hexadecimal format as: 00BBGGRR
where each hex-pair specifies the intensity of the corresponding color on a scale of 00 to ff (0-255, base 10)

Some examples for folks not familiar with hexadecimal notation:
pure red = 000000ff
pure yellow = 0000ffff
pure green = 0000ff00
pure cyan = 00ffff00
pure blue = 00ff0000
pure magenta = 00ff00ff

shades of gray:
00ffffff = white (0% gray)
00e0e0e0 = 12% gray
00c0c0c0 = 25% gray
00808080 = 50% gray
00404040 = 75% gray
00000000 = black

note that the two left hex characters are always 00 and are commonly omitted, just as in base ten we write "500" and not "0500" for five hundred.

this is nearly final (1.2.0.93)
http://zabkat.com/xplorer2_beta_setup.zip (485KB)

there's a new stock column and more importantly the new activex previewer should behave better with office documents

Wow! This is great! As pointed out, this has been the source of many a wasted effort and occasionally an unnecessary moment of pure panic! Thanks so much for adding this -- I'm using it now and will use it *ALL* the time...

While checking out '1.2.0.96 [Unicode] DBG' I noticed the following...

If I apply the same filter to each pane, then press F9, I get a warning window that states:

 At least one pane has an active visual filter;
 the synchronization may be incomplete.
 Continue anyway?  <Yes> <No>

If I apply a filter to one pane, then select 'Same Filter' from the View menu, it doesn't give that warning.

The problem was that applying the same filter to both panes using one method gave the warning, but applying the exact filter to both panes using a different method (see my previous post) did not give the warning.

Anyway, it is a non-issue now since with 1.3 it gives the warning using either method.

I seem to remember that I used to get that warning with 1.2 but I was able to turn it off (i.e. keep it from appearing) but I can't figure out how to disable it. Can it be disabled?

Thanks for the improvements/enhancements in 1.3  :D
