ok now i can do it too
but note all this tremendously long list of ifs and unlesses and whatnots required to manifest this "bug": surely users can alter any single detail to get normal lasso selection. Not to mention that visually the lasso when unfocused looks nothing like the normal focused action, having a much dimmer hilight color
all in all although i am reluctantly admiting this as a buglet, isn't it in the user's hand not to fall victim of it?

@ long list of ifs -- The list includes my normal operating settings .. and no doubt the preferences of many others.
@ unfocused looks nothing like -- That's precisely why I never fell into its trap: my colors/shadings make it obvious to me.
However, others (including, no doubt, jasinwa) may have their views set so it is not so obvious.
@ user's hand not to fall victim -- of course! (unless you are trying to build a user-friendly app that even granny with her poor eyesight will love, or gandpa with his "I've always done it that way with Windows and refuse to change my ways" attitude.)

I couldn't help but put in my two cents... I've been using Xplorer2 since the later alpha releases, (boy has the look changed...) and have always appreciated having a freeware version of an indispensable app. My views on free and shareware in general are somewhere in the middle of RMS's "open source macht frei" and Bill Gates' "all your code are belong to me". I deeply appreciate freeware or else I wouldn't have any software at all. I'm not a rich guy and I have a hard time digging out enough couch change for the power bill, but I fully support any software author's right to get paid for what he/she does. Which means that when I get the money, and the features are worth it, I will buy a piece of "Pro" or "Deluxe" or "Advanced" software without grumbling. That said, may I direct attention to the Libera Manifesto and give a hearty "Thanks a Grip" to Nikos.
Two more cents - A piece of music software I used to play with a lot, Tuareg, had seperate free-and-pay versions and then for version 2 the author made it so that the "lite" version was simply an unregistered "pro" version with the "pro" features disabled until registered. Cut way down on the bandwidth, made one codebase to maintain, and the Pro version wasn't a seperate download away, it was always right there, just in reach... You could even try out the pro version for a limited time from a "get the pro version" splash screen so as to eliminate the perceived annoyance of the "30-day free trial". Two sets of functionality, One download to have them, Two versions to offer, One code base to bind them...

Nikos, mate, you're a bloody saint!
I'm going to buy the Pro version just to compensate you for all the grief you get. I've been using the Lite version since day 1, I've never had any real problems with it - 'it does what it says on the tin' - a pity all software can't be this good, keep up the good work. Heck, I might even find a need for Scrap!
Now, where's my Digital River ID...

Cheers, Tim.
