r-click on any folder: if "open with x2" is bold type which means it is the default verb, then you've done everything right and this other tool you're using is to blame since it won't respect your system settings

if it isn't the default verb, you haven't registered x2 as recommended; in particular take heed of this portion in registry.txt

Its is actually "Open" in bold (as per registry.txt) but selecting it opens the folder in X2 so that is working.

I guess the problem is elsewhere then, like you say.

i think you have an older version of registry.txt, checkout the latest from the website, but if this "open" uses x2 then yes, the other tool is to blame!

Hello, I just bought v1.3.0.3 and it's just awesome, but I can't get it to be the default explorer. I changed the file folder type so that "open with xplorer2" is default and bolded. However folders still open with Windows Explorer. If I right click a folder "Open" is bolded, not "open in xplorer2" for some reason. I also checked that registry key as per the registry.txt file and that is correctly pointing to xplorer2. Am I doing something wrong here? Thanks!

please use regedit to extract this registry key & post it here:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
then i should be able to tell you if the registration was done properly

the script is right but there is a bug with verbs it would seem, where you can't have spaces in the default verb

so what you have to do is change all references to "open with xplorer2" to something without spaces, e.g. "x2open"

I've looked for some time to see how this might be accomplished - Keyboard Launchpad (about 10 quid) from Stardock was the only app I found that could override the Windows key (and Ctrl, Shift, Alt keys!). If you find a registry-based method, I'd be pleased to hear about it.

if this tool has a demo mode, then use a registry sniffer to see which entries it changes to make this key work
