Occasionally, 2XExplorer does not allow deleting emptied folders: it gives a 'disk full or file in use' error.
The only work-around is to close 2XExplorer, come back right in and delete the folder.
I am unable to pin down a pattern, though.
I tried the following, but could not simulate the problem-
* Empty the contents by deleting
* Move the contents out of the folder and paste them in parent folder (1/2 levels higher)
2X does not allow deleting of emptied folders - Occasional problem

No- I thought of that, and checked for this possibility.
At the time, the folder-to-be-deleted was displayed as one item in its next-level folder. The other pane was showing some other folder altogether. (I keep the file-tree displayed, but almost never use it by clicking there. In this case also, I have not clicked there.)
I will also check up on the past discussion on this, and revert.
Thanks!

Nikos,
I have gone through the earlier discussion thread (locked now-- too much bandying?
)
I am sorry to have missed it before starting this thread. Yet, I find that it does not entirely fit my own experience:
1. That thread does not mention that the problem persists even when you ARE at next-higher level; and not viewing the contents of the same folder.
2. That thread mentions Win2k and WinXP; where as I use Win NT4, SP6. (Perhaps a problem seen in the latest versions of Windows is to be expected in its earlier versions! )

that thread was shut because it was getting a bit hot under the collar
anyway, there are other subtler ways things can get locked. For example, if you are viewing any file of the folder you're trying to delete with a program that has CD'd on it (e.g. editor2 is known to do that) you may have problems just like as if you was browsing the folder with 2x
another even more quirky possibility is if you have used 2x to delete (or copy out) anything within the folder you want to destroy. Since 2x is using the clipboard chances are that the folder object is still active in the background, ready to furnish a paste request. That would have been really weird
finally, in some cases collapsing the tree to hide the target (for deletion) folder may also help
other than that, i'm clueless!

I think in my case, it should be possibility#2, because I did use 2x for transferring the folder-contents to its parent folder, and immediately afterwards tried to delete the now-empty folder from its parent folder's level.
There was no other program running at the time; and it did not occur to me to check the state of the clipboard.
And, yet, this behaviour is not repeatable.
Perhaps we should attribute it to some supernatural reasons, and rest the case here.
BTW, I think this thread should be renamed: The 2x files: the truth is out there!
