right-click searches drive A:

Just installed the lite version on my XP computer (note: 2xplorer is still on system, if that matters) .

Everytime I right click a file, xplorer2 lite tries to search drive A:. It takes several clicks of the Cancel button on the error dialog box before I have access to the context menu.

Is there any way I can tell xplorer2 lite to quit looking at drive A: when right-clicking?

doesn't this happen to 2xExplorer too?
does it make any difference if you have just one or 2 or more items selected?

After reading your reply, I investigated a litte further. Sure enough, in 2xExplorer right-clicking a non-executable file spins drive A:. But, the big difference in 2xExplorer and xplorer lite is that xplorer lite gives an error message whereas 2xExplorer does not. In addition, I've noticed that the same behavior occurs even if I double-click (left button) a .txt file (or any non-executable).

I have always noted that 2xExplorer was slow bringing up the context menu; I just never bothered to look at the drive to see that it was trying to search drive A:. I just always thought this stupid used computer had a bum XP installation. Still, though, after comparing the behavior of 2xExplorer and xplorer2, I tried it with Windows Explorer. Once again, drive A: gets searched. This leads me to believe that xplorer is not the problem but, in fact, there must be something wrong with my XP installation.

So, the bottom line is: 2xExplorer, xplorer2, and Windows Explorer all try to search drive A: whenever I rightclick or double-click a text file. Only xplorer lite gives me an error message that it can't find a disk in drive A:.

So, the real question should be, why does my XP installation try to search drive A: and how do I turn that off? I know this is not a question for this forum but since I'm already posting here.....

I suppose another question could be, why does xplorer lite give an error message when the others do not? Having to take the time to repeatedly dismiss the error message dialog box makes the context menu virtually unusable in xplorer lite. Any ideas?

the usual culprit is shell extensions
checkout your context menu: what non-standard items it contains?
one of them is your culprit

why does x2 behave different? good question!

I removed all items from the context menu and did not see any good results. Then I went through my registry and removed every reference to Drive A: I could find. That took care of it. Works as it should now.
