I've been moving some interesting stuff from xplorer² code base into the trusty 2xExplorer, and it's about time the beta version of what will certainly be the last 2xExplorer ever was released
as a special treat to all you folks that hang out in this forum, you get a chance to try it out first before the news break out. Grab this Z1 "Omega" beta and have a laugh --- but be careful since there have been many deep changes so there may be leftover nasties
the "official" launch of the beta will be sometime later this week, once i sort the new documentation out. Just check out all the menu items/options to see what's new
It's still a little buggy though, I think. On my Win98SE it changes into the dirs only occasionally. To be exact it doesn't change into the dir in the other pane if you move one dir in the tree pane. If you go to the next or move it to somewhere elsse it does. Strange!
BTW, is there a registry tweak or something to modify the delay before displaying the change (to make it a little shorter for instance)?
i thought fullrow select was a good thing!
anyway, the short-term solution is to find in the registry the value lvsExtendedStyle (under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ZabaraKatranemia Plc\2xExplorer\General Settings) after you quit 2x as usual
then whatever value this is, subtract 32 (decimal) or 0x20 (hex) and the full row select will go away. If other people don't fancy this I'll add an option in the usability page
Hehehe, the thing is, I modified the context menu with resource hacker to include items I use regularly & the bookmark menu. (Hope ya don't mind.) So, being able to bring up the context menu from within the folders is a great help.

Great, it worked like a charm. Now it's even better.
Ummm... How about a button/menu item to toggle "Show hidden files"? Oh, & is there a registry setting to change the grid line colors? (I love the grid lines )
> I modified the context menu with resource hacker
you may do so at your own peril :D
but seriously, it's a free world and no problemo this side
i take it that you know a thing or 2 about programming yourself
> registry setting to change the grid line
none that i know of. This color is something provided automatically by the list control -- i suppose it's controlled by your system color scheme. Perhaps there's a tweaking program out there that allows you to pick colors for such stuff but i wouldn't know it!

I wish! If I did, I'd never leave the computer. LoL I've just learned how to "tweak" things to my liking.

I spent some time reading the newest.txt coming with the latest beta and I'm even more impressed. (Fellow 2xExplorers, read Nikos' accompanying text pieces or you don't know the half of what 2x can do for you).
I can't avoid the impression that one passage is more or less directed at me (consisting mostly of nagging)

P.S.
One thing for x2 development. I think you said the find and scrap window will stay separated. Will you supply a method to transfer the results of the find window to the scrap window?

Nikos,
Many of the users may be programmers themselves (even though they may blush when asked and say, "who, me??" ;) )
In cases where the tweaks are for GUI only, and not likely to affect the basic item-handling code, why not let these tweaks be shared amongst the club?
Another thing that can be shared is innovative uses of X2, as discovered by the users.
A special static area should be devoted to this recipe-swapping.
I am not in favour of a discussion thread for this, because-
1. A discussion thread has a lot of unrelated dialogs, which dilute the topic unnecessarily. The users have to pick recipies from a long thread--an onerous task.
2. In the knowledge-sharing area (web-page), all the ideas can be distilled first, sorted and put in different sections-- each section dealing with a different functional area.

I agree. I just read it the other day. I have to say, that is one of the best readme's ever. I was also entertained by it.. LoL (Only a geek would be, LMAO)

Sorry- misfired the last mail!

That's a good idea, but who would make the page? Niko's is busy programming.. Right Niko's. J/K
But, I think a thread is best for now. Then once enough user ideas are shared, then a page can be made...
