Pasting into Detailed View
Anyone got any idea to how to paste a file into a window that is set to Detailed View (as opposed to List View)? Right-clicking in that area highlights any file that is located vertically where you click. I'd like to be able to paste into the window like you can within Windows Explorer, i.e.- right-clicking anywhere in the window that is NOT on a file, allows you to choose Paste from the menu...thx in advance!!!

You can r-click paste into a file pane regardless what the view type is providling you click outside an item selection region
(i.e.: its name/thumbnail/icon area).
Detail view has a setting which extends the item selection region to the full row. If you do not want this behaviour, unselect the Full row selection option (on Tools | Options... | Window menu )

The user manual explains the idea of "background" area in panes, which gives different context menus as compared to the "active" area. It is also a drop target; and so is the pane header itself.
But note that thanks to the dual panes, x2 offers much more efficient methods of transferring than the r-clicking and pasting. Refer to UM for details.

Or just use the keyboard shortcut for pasting:
Of course you'll have to give focus to the pane you want the action to be performed in first! (TAB usually gets you there
)
Code: Select all
Ctrl+V

Dumb questions are the ones that are never asked
