Hi, first of all I wanted to state that I'm a relative new user of 2xExplorer so probably my opinions/suggestions have allready been mentioned previouslly, so sorry if it is so. Also I know nikos is working mainly on x2..., but here are some suggestions for 2x that could be used for x2 also:

1.- Add on Toolbar next to Tree on/off button, one for View One Pane and another for View Equal Panes. I know there are shortcuts, but when you have your hands away from the keyboard, it's nice to make things fast with the mouse only.

The topmost solution would be to have a customizable toolbar, but I belive this would require lots of coding. By customizable I mean, selecting which buttons to show and their order a la M$ Internet Explorer toolbar, or a la Opera, or maybe editing registry settings or other way to do it.

2.- Add a menu item to Save settings now. I have unchecked the save settings on exit checkbox, and when I want to save them I have to set to save on exit, exit, restart 2x and uncheck again save settings on exit... a little long.

I have set it to don't save settings on exit 'cos I like 2x to start allways on a specific folder (second pane too). Would be great to have starting folder as an option so I could use the save settings on exit. Without saving on exit, when I open a folder via context menu (2xOpen) it allways opens the folders I use on 'normal' 2x start.

3.- Add the ability to drag with rigth mouse button on tree pane.

4.- It would be great IMHO that 2xExplorer wouldn't save it's settings on windows registry, but on a .ini or .dat file on 2xExplorer folder, 'cos of portability, easiness on installation after formating windows drive, maintaining registry as 'light' and as 'clean' as possible, etc.
You (nikos) probably had several reasons to save them on the registry, but I feel in the moral obligation to tell you my opinion ;)

Ups, this post is a bit longer than what I planned, so sorry, and thank for your patience and time if you reached this point.

Best regards,
Mguel

PS: Sorry if i didn't made myself clear on some point, since english isn't my first language.

PS2: Although the suggestions, I believe 2x is one of the best file managers out there (I believe I have tryed almost all). Just in case, I'm using 2x by default now. It has a perfect balance between features, speed, power, and easiness of use.

And thanks for making it freeware!!! :D

as we've discussed before in this forum, toolbar customization will come at some distant point

"save settings now" command looks like a good idea for x2. It is unlikely that I'll be adding any more code for 2x after Z1 goes final

saving settings in the registry means that if you are working on the network you can have all computers setup automatically with your most recent changes. If you want to copy your settings onto a floppy say, use regedit to export 2x's key into a reg file. Then you can "run" this on a different machine and the settings would be cloned. Pretty much like an ini file

i can't understand why your 2xOpen verb is not working. Did you follow the instructions in FAQ# 15, and especially the "%1" after the command name? You don't have to stop saving your options just for the sake of starting at a particular directory, folders specified at the command line always override those in the registry. For more info on the command line options see 2xExplorer.rtf

sorry my mistake here... I pointed to a batch file and not to 2x!

You can set it on command line!  I read it some time ago and my memory it's a bit fragile ;)
And I don't stop saving on exit because of that.

>saving settings in the registry....
I knew you had a reason. ;)  About the exporting of the reg, it's just what I did (a few days ago when reinstalling windows), and after combining the .reg I had 2x runing as expected. It's just I'm kind of sensitive with too much registry inputs, and prefer to have programs saving their setting not there (as you can imagine I don't work on network), but it's really not a big deal, just me being a bit paranoid about that issue.
