Copy Files in Windows Remote Access

Post by robyb »

Hi,

First of all sorry for my non perfect englis

I've tried to see in topics if someone had had this problem but I don't see the same.

My problem is the following :

I connect from my pc on work to my pc at home with remote desktop of Windows. I enable the option that allow me to see my local drives (pc work) in my remote pc (home). but with xplorer2 lite when I try to copy or move a file into one of these mapped drive I obtain the error : "The target folder does not accept this file operation". But I can copy from mapped drive (work) into local (home) with no problem.

I have think that I haven't enough rights to paste file into drive but it isn't it because if i use Windows Explorer it functions normally, no errors.

could someone help me? or someone say me if it's a bug or a limit of xplorer2? Someone have the same problem with pro version?

Thank you
Robyb

i haven't got experience with remote access
however this kind of error may be not an error after all!
i've seen it popping up e.g. after using "send to" menu
are you sure that files aren't copied despite the message?

Hi,

Thank you for your answer. Effectually if I create a link in the SendTo function (of Windows) if copy correctly. But I can't use CopyTo or MoveTo from xplorer2.

Did you know why? where is the incompatibility? If I use these 2 function, the file isn't copied.

Thanks

as i said windows sometimes pops up this "error message" like as if something went wrong, but the files may be transferred without problem. Are you sure the files aren't copied when you drag-drop to the remote PC?

hi,

I got the same pb.
Impossible to copy from local to remote using remote desktop ressource folders, but it works from remote to local !

I don't have any error message.
When I try with explorer.exe, it works well, so it's not a rights pb.

an idea ?

i don't know but if you are a bit experienced you can use this debug version of xplorer2 (see instructions in the archive you download)

www.ps.ic.ac.uk/~umeca74/dbmon.zip

i'd be interested to see the output when this fault occurs (email is fine)
thanks

I've tried with the professional version but the problem is the same. when I try to copy a file to the remote folder a message appear in the status bar :

"The target folder does not accept this file operation"

another idea?

thank you

have you tried both drag-drop and F5? (robust copy) Any difference?

Yes I tried both solutions.

when I make a robust copy (F5) it indicate me the error message that I've already written. If I make a drag-and-drop the mouse icon on the destination panel (folder) is the icon that indicate this operation is not allowed. And if I try to make it with copy-paste it send me this error message : "Paste from clipboard failed"

thank you

is it easy for me to setup such a remote desktop connection so i can test for myself? Do you have any URL that guides through the steps involved?
