Options window: "OK" button won't work

I just installed version 1.4.0.1 LITE on a new WindowsXP-64 system. In the "Tools/Options" window, the "OK" button will only work if I keep the Options window on the "General" tab. Even then I have to put the cursor along the bottom edge of it to get it to work. If I choose the "Window" or "Advanced" tab, the "OK" button will no longer work at all. So, I can't change any of the options on those tabs.

The "OK" and "Cancel" buttons are positioned a bit too high as well. Anyone else having this problem? Thank you.

i've heard about this problem of misplaced buttons before
what sort of fonts are you using, can you see dialogs with verdana font? (checkout the website for how the font should look like)

this is the first time i heard about buttons not working at all though
what if you just press enter?

First, I tried an earlier version of xplorer2 (1.2.0.1 LITE) and I'm having similar problems with WindowsXP-64. I have also tried the "Windows Classic" theme and "WindowsXP" theme with similar problems. I just reinstalled 1.4.0.1 LITE and used the Windows "Properties" (right mouse button on desktop, choose Properties, Appearance, Advanced) to change the fonts of all items where fonts can be changed, to Verdana 8pt. I'm using a font size of "Normal" there. Same problem. The buttons of the Options window of x2 are still too high and mostly non-functional. x2 itself is using Verdana 8pt., but I cannot change it because of the button problem (see below).

Your suggestion to try "Enter" sort of works. If I change the Main Font in x2 under the Windows tab, I must go back to the General tab or the Advanced tab for Enter to work, but it does make the fonts change. If I try Enter in the Windows tab, the Font window opens again. In the Windows tab, the "OK" and "Cancel" buttons are so high that the "OK" button partially overlaps the icon for "Inactive background" color (or the icon overlaps the "OK" button if you put your cursor over it) and the "Cancel" button partially covers the "Dialog balloon help" option (or vice versa). the <enter> workaround will only work if the focus is not on another button e.g. "font". You'll have to tab till you get into a checkbox or something

what locale is this you are using? (language regional options)
and are you using "large fonts" by any chance? (as a global desktop setting)

Font size is "Normal" (not "Large", not "Extra large"). Language is English (US). Thanks.

Thanks anyway. I don't think I ever noticed a change of font in the Options windows of x2. I wonder how that font is determined.

Perhaps it is a situation that is unique to WindowsXP-64. There is a general observation that I will make that is probably not related, but many web sites are set up so that text from one area will overlap the text from another area if fonts are larger than the web designer expected. This is the result of improper HTML code that does not compensate for different sizes of fonts. Proper design will compensate. Perhaps there is something like this going on in the Options window of x2.

Here is another odd one: I am using Firefox as my browser. As I type this message, the cursor is in the correct position. But if I move the cursor to an earlier portion of the message to correct something, the cursor is a few characters ahead of where the corrections occur. I ended up typing this message in Wordpad, then cutting and pasting it into this composition window when I was finished. Internet Explorer works OK. Could be an HTML problem, or it could be Firefox. There are sites that can check tthe HTML code of any site that you enter, and report if the code meets standards or not. According to http://validator.w3.org/ this page has 26 errors.

you are the only xp-64 person that has such problems -- and bothered to report it anyway!

it could be some problem with your font setup or the display driver... dunno!

At least things are working. The usual procedure is to keep updating drivers, BIOSes, etc., and the problems tend to go away. Some things don't work under WindowsXP-64. Parts of the Nero CD/DVD software, mouse drivers for my Logitech MX510, etc.
