Opening ftp files in default program?

Post by boardtc »

Perhaps what I am trying to do is impossible.

I have an external hard drive on my router ftp server and I want to access this drive explorer style as if it was just another folder. Testing this software I can do that for listing the folders and files on it. However, when I click on say a text file on the ftp site it opens in Internet Explorer (I don't use this, my default browser is firefix but that is beside the point) rather than my text editor.

Is there any way to have these "ftp" files open using the same program as if you opened them on your hard drive?

Thanks, Tom.
Cheers,

Tom.

instead of double-clicking try hitting F4 on the file
but note that you won't edit the real remote file, only a temp local copy, which isn't what you want most likely. FTP does not offer remote editing as far as i know
