No titlebars

Post by Gilganon »

I had no titlebars above the panes when I first installed xplorer2.  How do I turn them on?

Another problem:  Periodiclly I am unable to rename files by a single click.  I close X2 and go back to 2x.  There I have no rename problem.  What can be causing this?

1. uninstall, removing all registry entries, and reinstall

2. there's an option you have to  check in tools | options  | window | view

The second solution worked but not the first one.  I had previously tried uninstalling, removing registry entries in the uninstall, and reinstalling.  I just tried it again.  Still no titlebars.  I didn't have them when I first installed.  Can I turn them on by a registry edit?

If you uninstalled and deleted all registry entries, you *should* have got titlebars for the folderpanes after you reinstalled.  :?
The control for having titlebars is in the binDualPaneFlags registry word under MainFrame Settings
Set it to the default value of 9 if that's not what you have.

Uninstaller won't remove the registry entires. You'll have to remove them yourself ("HKCU\Software\ZabaraKatranemia Plc")

Then reinstall and all should be well :)
Dumb questions are the ones that are never asked :turn:

I made the suggested change in the registry, but still no titlebars.

I used the explorer2 uninstaller.  It asked if I want to remove the registry entries.  I said yes.  So I presume they were all removed.  I did a third reinstall but got no titlebars.

I didn't lose the titlebars.  They were missing when when I first installed. Could it be that my download was defective?  I downloaded again and reinstalled again.  No titlebars.

I can't think of anything else to try.  Any suggestions?

I use XP S2.  I have titlebars on 2X but I have not had titlebars on X2 since I first installed it a few days ago.

I tried to post a screen print, but it cannot be pasted into the writing box.  I clicked Img above the box, but this does not permit me to post an image.  How can I post?

The normal arrangement, as shown in the manual, is two bars at the top of each pane.  One is a titlebar showing the path.  The other is a bar showing column headings.  My 2x has both these bars, but my X2 has only the column bar.  There is no blank space where the title bar ought to be.  Above the column bar is the tool bar.  Below it is the list of folders and files.  Imagine the column bar pushed up on top of your titlebar.  That is what I have.

Did I edit the correct line in the registry to control the titlebars?  Is there anything external that could prevent titlebars from showing?

I don't know, did you?
i.e.,
Under MainFrame Settings in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ZabaraKatranemia Plc\xplorer2_UC
What is the value of your binDualPaneFlags registry word ??

I followed your instructions by putting 9 there.  I have 9 there now, but no titlebars.

What I meant to ask is whether this is the only thing that needs to be done to produce titlebars.  Maybe there is something else that needs editing?

Otherwise, it must be an interaction with something in my XP installation, which we can't identify.  Maybe I have to reinstall XP to get titlebars in X2, but that's too drastic a remedy.

If there is no easier solution, I will go back to 2X and try an updated X2 later.  Thanks to all for trying.

ok let's try that again:
make sure x2 is not running, then uninstall it and when it asks "remove registry entries" click on YES. Then reinstall
