Nikos,

just wanting to mention something quickly which hit me using the find window again. Hitting enter in the find window selects the file in question in the file pane in the background while the focus stays on the find window. So far so good.

But isn't it possible to apply your "alt-modifier" technology here, too?

I mean something like alt+enter launches the file (not only selects it) while letting the focus on the find window? And alt-rightmouseclick or alt-respective-Winkey launches the usual properties window?

I'd be excited about that since it's a major relieve for some file operations. Have you thought about it before?

(And there's an afterlife after all. Even after Armageddon [ever read Good Omens?]. Case in point, anybody else noticed there's a .19 available? Reanimated? Resurrected ;-))

(and yes, I'm still working on an apology for that 2Explorer goof, intended as it was ;-))

(and yes, Narayan, I'm still working on that extensions list for you)

.9? there's .10 out now!
it's all narayan's fault  :)
i fixed a bug, slipped in that find name without wildcard thing (.9) of his, which in turn introduced a new bug on top (.10)

you just can't add things hastily without paying the price! So let's put an end to it, ok?

but you must concede that x2 windows are already doing what you want, so the future looks good

i've got my head full now since all of a sudden i had two inspirations that look promising to bring full thumbnail view and ftp technology in one swift stroke -- but don't quote me on that yet!

I sure do and it sure does. So you thought of it and I didn't notice. All the better.
but don't quote me on that yet!
I won't tell anybody! :-)

Keep on going, Hephaistos!

Sacrilege! Did someone mention the "b*g" word? ;)

All that was Greek and Latin (German?) to me, BRX! Greek mythological charaters, hey?

Nikos-
While on the subject of the "find results", there is another piddling problem: if you have selected the "single-click activation" option, all the individual entries in the "find results" box appear to have links. However, single-clicking on them does not take us to the corresponding item in the active pane. We have to double-click to do this. (In other words, appearances deceive! )

I know there is little point in labouring after the Last Emperor, so you can take this as a checklist item for x2.

BRX,

Why don't you list all the URLs that you already know in a new thread and ask other users to chip in? After all, this is supposed to be a collaborative effort! You can request Sal to make the thread sticky, so all visitors will definitely hit it and -it is hoped- contribute.

Will do so. But it's not as if I had a list already available. I have to browse my bookmarks and my disk and also evaluate if want to list all the shell extensions I've found and/or used once or only a few. For instance should I list something like Folder Size Shell Extension which was useful once for but I don't have a need for any more because of Ctrl-D? I guess not.

We should stick to enhancements to 2Ex. I even don't use the Ninotech Pathcopy any more since Nikos implemented the keyboard shortcut.

Let me add quickly that the find modification (no wildcards) works superbly. I was going to suggest it myself since I know it from at least one other application. But Narayan beat me to that (like he did with his third star :0 )

Hm, just one minor thing. Before I could search let's say for all directories called "thumbs" with the search term, well, "thumbs" without showing all the other files containing this text. Is there still a way to do that I can't see right now?

OK, there are some tricks to get similar results (searching for "thumb?" for instance), but that's not quite the same since it doesn't cover all.

Just thinking loud.

well that's the problem with automatic expansion

there's no other way than the trick you mentioned with a "?"

or set bAutoPadWildcard to zero to get back to the old literal stuff

Thought so. Doesn't matter much. The advantages of the new feature outweigh the old way by far.

But it's nice to know there's a registry way back in case there's a search worth the effort.
