Menu actions in toolbar?...

Post by yamo »

Why can't any menu action (such as "Edit/Copy Names") be put into the toolbar?

Is the free versions list of toolbar buttons purposely limited?

Also I'd figured that as well as DOS and Windows commands, there should be "Explorer2 commands" so keyboard shortcuts/menu actions could be specified.

the only menu commands you can place on toolbars are those with icons
right click on any toolbar to customize it

any plans for allowing any command?

Post by yamo »

I guess I'm actually running the trial version of pro. I assume it's not limited?

I'm still finding things I do like, although it really did irk me that I couldn't get any command on to the toolbar. Would be nice.

I like the typing for selection. When working in a project with a lot of common prefix files, it's nice.

Thank you!
I see a purchase in the near future (trial expiration!-)

the free 21 day trial is 100% like the real thing, while the trial lasts!

although by itself x2 does not support all menu commands on toolbars, some people have done some wicked auto scripts that can be used to place any menu commend on a toolbar, through "user commands". Please search  the professional forum for more info on this hack

Actually there are several nifty free macro programs, that you can
open in conjunction with xplorer2 that provide any combination of commands with a single click, recording macros, and more. There is one I particularly like that gives you 3 virtual keyboards, each key of which can be set to display any icon or phrase, and to execute any set of commands. The
keystrokes etc. are fed to the open application, and reasonable combinations of the applications internal commands and other application commands can be defined. And no hacks to do, except defining the keyboards, or setting up hot keys.
