Regular problem with x2 lite and Win 2000

Post by Lemmy »

Hi,
Very often using xplorer2 lite, I can't restore the program from the windows taskbar when it is minimised. When I click on the box to restore it nothing happens. Then, if I right click and choose close, I get a "Program not responding" message. I click "End Now" and the software closes.

I use xplorer2 a lot, so this is a big problem for me. This issue also affects other programs which are running. They often do not respond until I close xplorer2.

I am running Windows 2000 SP4 here at work. (I don't have this problem at home where I have Windows XP.) This has only started happening since recently changing work PCs. I had no problems on my previous W2000SP4 machine. I am running ATI Hydravision (dual monitor software), which seems a bit flaky, and wondered if this was the problem.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

it could be that x2 is busy autorefreshing some network folder you happen to be browsing and has become slow or unavailable

Hi,

This problem happens even when both column views are browsing folders in the C: drive - so I don't think that is the problem...

Thanks

I think I have solved it. It is a compatability problem with Hydravision.
I added xplorer2 to the list of applications which use their own individual Hydravision settings. Then I disabled the "Single Monitor Windows" option in Hydravision.

Seems to have done the trick, though it means xplorer2 always opens on the full width of the two monitors, which isn't what I wanted. It is possible to then send it to monitor 1 or monitor 2 however.

Hydravision is evil...
I am having this problem with quite a few applications. I'm looking into switching my video card to NVidia, but maybe you could consider why this problem occurs with xplorer2 and not windows explorer and other standard MS apps.
Thanks.
